SpeedFan – is a free system utility for monitoring the parameters of the motherboard. The program monitors fan speeds and temperatures in the system unit (CPU fan, power supply, PC case, hard drive, etc.). The main function of the program is to regulate the fan speeds depending on the respective temperatures. This helps reduce power consumption during the minor use of computer resources. The rotation can be controlled manually or automatically. Notice that the variable speed fan can only be provided on the motherboard installed the appropriate sensor. Another function of this utility is the ability to automatically regulate the internal CPU bus frequency and bus PCI.
The program is a compact but highly functional tool for monitoring the computer’s hardware. Allows you to read voltage, fan speed and temperature with a hardware monitor. Displays the status of parameters SMART, as well as temperatures for hard drives. Works on interfaces with HDD EIDE, SATA and SCSI (most of the “software» IDE / SATA RAID controllers, unfortunately, is not supported). You can also adjust the FSB on some motherboards, but development in this direction is actually frozen. Working in the operating systems Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista and 7, as well as x64.
The main highlight of the program is to adjust fan speed depending on conditions (such as CPU temperature), but again, if you have the hardware support of equipment. Additionally, you may collect statistics on removable parameters and record information in the log-file, draw graphs of temperatures, voltages and fan speeds. Please see the list of supported sensors, motherboard, allowing to change fan speed, and hard drives on the official site.
